Many natural and technological disasters cannot be prevented, but we can still minimise the risk by being prepared. For this reason, the Cypriot European Centre for Disaster Awareness has developed the BeSafeNet website, a tool for promoting risk culture among populations by disseminating information on the nature of disasters, the causes and consequences of natural and technological hazards.
Post-disaster aid majorly aims to minimize the consequences of technological disasters, and it usually involves a lot of volunteer work. As part of the EUR-OPA Agreement, the European Center for New Technologies of Risk Management in Moscow provides information, materials and training for volunteers and professionals with the aim of developing functional emergency alert and response systems.
